Gale norton jane norton

Norton led efforts that resolved year-old interstate disputes on the Colorado River and instituted a west-wide water conservation program. As an attorney, Norton has handled multi-billion-dollar and high-profile litigation involving products liability, antitrust, taxation, environmental and constitutional issues, including arguing cases before the US Supreme Court and negotiating one of the largest lawsuit settlements in history.

Norton served two terms as the elected Attorney General of Colorado, Lindsey Graham, is in a tight race to win reelection in South Carolina. On Monday he called her a "slam dunk" to be seated. Signs of Republican overreach and politics on the right could give Democrats, were they to win big next month, the mandate with voters to increase the size of the court and obliterate the conservative majority. Democrats, also, walk a line of jeopardizing their intent to win the election before dealing with the courts, given that the confirmation is likely already decided by the majority.

I think it shows real messed-up priorities from the Republican Party. The Colorado Republican leaders also, out of respect for Barrett, say the confirmation should happen before the Nov. Republicans have the votes to do that. In an interview with Colorado Politics on Tuesday morning, Gale Norton agreed that the partisan politics has overtaken the judicial process, and that shouldn't tarnish Barrett.

That may be a two-way street. Quite the scoop! The federal Bureau of Land Management failed to follow the law and its own guidelines in issuing some of the 6, exclusions that enabled oil and gas drilling in the West without environmental impact studies, according to a government audit. The decisions helped contribute to growing air-quality problems in Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico, the Government Accountability Office study found.

About 10 percent of the exclusions came in Colorado, where federal land accounts for 15 percent of drilling. Illinois refused to elect Jim Ryan governor in instead electing Rod Blagojevich—oh, the irony at least partially due to the misdeeds of another Ryan George who both were fighting to succeed.

There is an R candidate in CD7. If the candidate changed names to Bill Ohen- perceived name recognition would jump. If nothing else, name recognition causes voters to double take and think about a candidate. Not always helpful in the end- but candidates spend big money trying to cause this exact outcome. Thanks for clearing that up, Pols. I had wondered what the word was. Roger D says:. I caught that too. Gray in Mountains says:. Leave a Reply Cancel reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
