I am asking for a friend. He reloads his own ammo, and was wondering what kind of license he would need in order to sell the ammo he reloads. From what I have found online, you need an FFL to sell personally reloaded ammo.

If you are purchasing ammo wholesale, or become a distributor for mainstream ammo brands, you do not need an FFL, just apply through the state for a Tax ID and stuff like that to start a sole proprietorship or something like it.

Please let me know, your replies are much appreciated. Do I need to get a license for selling reloaded ammo with my state or how does that work? Yes you need a license from the BATF for selling ammo.

You can go to their website and read up on what you need to do. I have made up some rounds for friends, but I tell them to supply me with the components and I would load them for them…no charge.

Lots of larger ammo companies started out small, and there are plenty of smaller local ammo-remanufacturers all over the country. You need a class 6 I think FFL.

Your box must be of a fire retarding plywood i. There is no maximum for the number of compartments other than a practical limit on the ease with which the fully laden box could be moved. The lid must have an intumescent fire retarding gasket around its border. No bare metal must intrude into the storage space. The powder must be kept in containers with no more than grams approx. The containers must be constructed in such a way that; in the event of a fire they do not provide additional containment that will increase the explosive force of any deflagration.

Metal containers with a screw cap, or a push-in lid i.
