Freeplay mode is both a single and multiplayer mode. You can also choose to not have the House Robots in the arena. The second mode of play is Vengeance. This can be single or multiplayer. In Vengeance mode, you can only go up against a robot that is in your possession, i. Unlike Freeplay mode, you must have the House Robots in the arena.
The third mode of play is Training Ground. This is where you can practise your skills against three challenges. These challenges are:. Unused Jonathan Pearce audio clips from the PlayStation 2 version of the game reveal that commentary lines were written about Gauntlet , Pinball and Tag Team Terror game modes, inspired by the real life side tournaments.
However it is currently unknown why these were not a part of the final game, or how far through development any mode was before being scrapped. There are many playable robots that must be bought in order to use them. Robots are separated into weight categories which are, lightweight, middleweight, heavyweight and super heavyweight. Robots that participated in reality are very expensive and are classed as super heavyweights.
The only exception to this is Chaos 2 which is classed as a heavyweight. The following robots are the "real-life" competitor robots:. In addition to these competitors, there is a robot called Thor , the winning entry from a contest in the original Robot Wars Magazine that was held to design a robot for Arenas of Destruction.
Thor is treated as though it were a real-life competitor; it must be unlocked by winning a certain event, and it uses its own unique components. There are two voices in this game, the commentator and the Robot Builder Advisor. Interestingly, Frank's commentary is word-for-word exactly the same as Pearce's except for the pronunciation of the letter "Z" and Kamphues' commentary is a direct translation into Dutch.
One patch 1. Patched versions of the game have the text "v1. Strangely, both demos were simply referred to as 'Robot Wars', rather than the game's full name and were released two and three months after the game's November release date respectively. Download Robot Wars: Extreme Destruction. Christophee talk , 27 August UTC. I own the PC version of this game and it has Jonathan Pearce as the commentator.
Was there a separate US release with Stefan Frank as the commentator? If so, was he on both versions or just the PC version? That's what I thought. There seems to be some confusion over which series of Robot Wars the game takes place in. Let me clear it up by saying that it's Series 4 and not 5, because there's no pit release button, and Firestorm has its Series 4 paintjob.
If you're wondering why Terrorhurtz is in a game based on series 4, it's because the company that did Battlebots had the rights to Killerhurtz, meaning Mentorn would be infringing a copyright if they included it in their game.
R A 2 ; aka Resetti's Replicas. Are we having articles on all the levels? Somebody linked to the Japanese Rooftop. Does anybody think that My First Bot should have a page? It is a robot on the game like all the others, so I think it should. Does anybody want to create it? Christophee talk , January 7, UTC. Is it worth mentioning there is also a Dutch edition of the game? Like the US-version, the Dutch edition's narration is identical but obviously translated to the English original.
Some translations actually sound a bit weird in Dutch, probably because they tried to translate it a bit too literally. Everything is identical about the game, except the menu language and the narration. The Dutch male narrator voice for the game is Rob Kamphues, who is the presenter of the tv version, but not the narrator. There's a female voice in the menus, but it's not Bridget Maasland who was the pit reporter on tv. Sorry, I'm new to the whole editing Wikia's thing.
Bstingnl , June 10, UTC. Just in case anyone is wondering what the Dutch version looks like I somehow managed to find this page. This is not really to do with the article. Does anybody know if the PC version works on Windows Vista? I am thinking of getting it, but my computer has vista on it. Extreme Destruction does work with vista just , so I thought I'd ask if anyone else has this game and has had experiences with running it on Windows Vista.
